Chicken poriyal is a lovely chicken curry recipe which is simple ,easy and tasty to prepare. Here we cook chicken in shallots and spice mixture gravy and are then enriched with the addition of fried onion, potato and green piece. Spiciness is provided by green chilly and pepper powder which brings a special aroma to the dish. It suits with any breakfast and dinner dishes.

- Chicken: 1/2 kg
- Onion: 1
- Shallots: 1 cup
- Potato: 1 large
- Green peas: 1/2 cup
- Green chilly: 3
- Ginger: 1/2 inch
- Pepper: 1/2 tbs
- Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp
- Cinnamon: 1/2 inch piece
- Cloves: 2
- Curry leaves: 1-2 strings
- Salt: to taste
- Oil: As required
- Soak green peas over night or for 4-5 hours.
- Cook it using a pressure cooker and drain its water.
- Prepare paste with shallots, green chilly and ginger and keep aside.
- Also grind Pepper, turmeric powder, cinnamon and cloves with little water.
- Now heat a wok and pour 1-2 tbs of oil
- Saute shallot paste in hot oil.
- When oil seems clear, add spice paste and saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Now add water required for cooking chicken along with salt and curry leaves and allow it to boil.
- Cut the chicken into small pieces and add to the boiling gravy.
- Stir well , close the lid and cook in low flame till chicken pieces get cooked.
- Meanwhile, Cut the onion into thin slices and fry it in oil,
- When it get golden brown color, remove it from oil.
- Peel off the potato and cut into sticks and fry in the oil.
- When it cooks well, remove from oil.
- Now fry the cooked green peas and take out from oil.
- When chicken gets cooked, mix all the fried ingredients and stir well.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes and turn off the flame.
