Layered Chicken Crepes / Chattipathiri

Layerered chicken crepe cake or chattipathiri is a delicious spicy malabari snack common during Ifthar, wedding treats or at any special occasions. They are really delicious easy and quick snack recipe. Usually they are prepared using all purpose flour, here I made it with wheat flour to turn it healthy. Give a try upon it.


INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
  1. Wheat flour: 1 cup
  2. Chicken : 250 g
  3. Onion: 3
  4. Ginger-garlic paste: 1 TBS
  5. Green chilly: 3
  6. Chicken masala : 1/2 TSP
  7. Garam masala : 1/2 TSP
  8. Pepper Powder : 1 TSP
  9. Curry leaves(chopped): 1 TSP
  10. Turmeric powder:1/4 TSP
  11. Coriander leaves: little
  12. Salt: to taste
  13. Oil: 2 TBS
  14. Egg: 3
  15. Ghee: 1 TBS
METHOD OF PREPARATION
  • Cook chicken with 1/2 TSP pepper powder ,a pinch of turmeric powder and salt. Shred it using a mixer jar after removing it's bone.
  • Heat oil in a pan and saute onion in it till it turns golden brown.
  • Now add ginger-garlic, green chilly paste and saute till it removes raw smell.
  • Now add 1/4 TSP each ofchicken masala, garam masala, turmeric powder and salt and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  • Now add shredded chicken , coriander and curry leaves and cook for 2-3 minutes before turning off the flame.
  • Now prepare a batter with wheat flour, 1/4 TSP each of chicken masala, garam masala, pepper powder and salt . The batter should be of dosa batter consistency. You can also prepare chapati instead of dosa.
  • Now prepare thin uniform dosas or crepes out of batter.
  • Beat eggs with 1/4 TSP pepper powder and salt.
  • Heat a deep pan with ghee in low flame.
  • Take a dosa or crepe , dip it in beaten egg and place in the hot pan.
  • Spread prepared masala over it and cover with a crepe dipped in egg.
  • Repeat the steps of layering till whole crepes and masala finishes. Top layer should be with crepe.
  • Pour remaining egg over the layers and cook in low flame for 10-15 minutes in low flame with closed lid.
  • After that turn to other side and again cook for 5-8 minutes with closed lid in low flame.
  • Turn of flame and transfer it to a tray or plate.
  • Allow it to cool a little and cut it into pieces with sharp knife or scissor.
Delicious Layered chicken crepe cake or Chattipathiri is ready. Serve hot.
