Punjabi chicken is simply delicious chicken gravy recipe. It is an lovely recipe with the presence of coconut and cashew pastes. This delicious recipe is prepared easily with usual ingredients. Here we uses ghee for sauting instead of oil.
INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
- Chicken: 1/2 kg
- Onion: 1
- Garlic: 4 cloves
- Tomato:2
- Ginger: 1 inch piece
- Grated coconut: 1/4 cup
- Cashew: 10-12
- Cumin: 1 tsp
- Chilly powder: 2 tsp
- Coriander powder: 1&1/2 tsp
- Garam masala powder: 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
- Sugar: 1&1/2 tsp
- Ghee:3 tbs
- Salt: to taste
- Grind coconut and cashew together to fine paste.
- Chop onion and keep half of it aside.
- Then put remaining onion in a mixer jar along with ginger, garlic, cumin, chilly powder, coriander powder and grind to fine paste.
- Now melt ghee in a wok, caramelize sugar in it.
- When it turns golden brown add reserved chopped onion in it.
- When the onion also turns golden brown color,add ground onion paste and turmeric powder, saute well.
- Now add tomato pieces and saute till it mashes.
- Chicken pieces and ground coconut-cashew pastes are added to it.
- Saute it till oil comes clear.
- Now add 1 cup water and salt, mix well and cook till chicken pieces cooks well.
- Sprinkle garam masala over it, stir well and turn off the flame.
