Green / Palak Murukku

Murukku are lovely crispy snack, loves to have at any time, while studying or watching tv or while having a talk or discussion. It is crispy and are available in different flavors. Here comes a recipe of murukku flavored with palak puree which provides green color to murukku, thus named as green murukku. As it is prepared by rice powder , it is healthy snack too. Addition of palak  leaves enriches its nutrition. You can either prepare it into sticks or into layered round shapes.

Green / Palak Murukku

INGREDIENTS OF PREPARATION
  1. White rice: 1 cup
  2. Urud dal: 1 tbs
  3. Cumin seeds: 1 tsp
  4. Sesame seeds: 1 tsp
  5. Butter: 1/2 tbs
  6. Palak puree: 1/2 cup
  7. Garam masala powder: 1/4 tsp
  8. Ginger: 1 piece.
  9. Salt: to taste
METHOD OF PREPARATION
  • Soak white rice for 4-5 hour.
  • Drain it and allow it to dry a little.
  • Now powder it using a mixer jar.
  • Sieve it to get fine powder.
  • Again grind the remaining present on siever and sieve .
  • Now discard the remaining waste .
  • Roast uruddal till it changes to reddish and powder it.
  • Chop ginger into very tiny pieces.
  • Mix all the ingredients except oil to get a smooth dough like of chappathi.
  • Here i used  white sesame .
  • Put the dough into a sevnari with disc of star shaped. and roll it into murukk shape or simply sticks into a cotton cloth.
  • Fry it in hot oil  in low flame till it become crispy
Delicious crispy and attractive Green or palak murukk is ready. store it in airtight container.
