Carrot Payasam

Carrot is a lovely and healthy vegetable. It is good for eyes and many more benefits are there by its intake. Our kids may not like to eat it alone or as it is hard , it may be difficult to eat for kids. Most kids love to have payasam or any desserts as they are sweet. Here comes a delicious carrot payasam recipe prepared along with sago or sabudana( which is also very healthy) in milk and are sweetened with condensed milk. Sago is also recommended healthy for kids and adults too. Thus this recipe is healthy with the presence of carrot, sago and milk and are flavored with a pinch of cardamom. So try it quickly.


Carrot Payasam

INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION

  1. Carrot: 2
  2. Sago: 1/4 cup
  3. Condensed milk: 1/4 - 1/2 tin(adjust to your taste)
  4. Milk: 2 cups
  5. Cardamom: 1
  6. Sugar : 2 tbs
  7. Ghee: 2 tbs
  8. Cashew: 1-2 tbs
  9. Raisins: 1-2 tbs
METHOD OF PREPARATION

  • Peel off and grate carrot. Don't make it very tiny, grate into little large , not too large too.
  • Melt  1 tbs of ghee and saute carrot in it for 3-4 minutes with 1 tbs of sugar.
  • Now add half cup of milk and boil till carrot cooks well.
  • Cook sago with 1 tbs sugar and 1/2 cup milk. Add little water if required.
  • Now boil remaining milk in a saucepan along with condensed milk. Adjust its addition to your sweetness.
  • When it starts boiling, add cooked carrot and sago, cardamom and mix well.
  • Allow it to boil by continuous stirring.
  • Add more milk, if it is too thick.
  • Turn off the flame.
  • Roast cashew and raisins in ghee, and pour over the payasam.
Delicious healthy Carrot Payasam is ready, serve hot.
