Chicken Satay With Peanut Sauce

Chicken satay is a delicious and easy dish with chicken.It is a Indonesian dish in origin but now spreads all over the world. The process begins with simple marination of chicken and are screwed in wooden skewers or satay sticks. Chicken skewers are then cooked and served hot with peanut sauce.


Chicken Satay With Peanut Sauce

INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION

  1. Chicken Breasts: 4
  2. Dark Soy Sauce: 2 tbs
  3. Red Chilly Powder: 1&1/2 tsp
  4. Lemon juice: 2 tbs
  5. Onion: 1 (small)
  6. Garlic: 4 cloves
  7. Tomato Puree:3 tbs
  8. Honey: 2 tsp
  9.  Peanuts(roasted and coarsely crushed): 1/4 cup
  10. Oil: 2 tsp
  11. Salt:to taste
  12. Satay sticks: 8-10
METHOD OF PREPARATION

  • Soak wooden skewers or satay sticks in water for 20-30 minutes.
  • Cut each chicken piece into half inch broad strips.
  • Mix 1 tsp soy sauce,2 tbs lemon juice, 1 tsp oil, 1 tsp chilly powder  and salt in a bowl and marinate chicken pieces in it for 1 hour.
  • Now thread the chicken pieces to satay sticks.       
  • Heat a nonstick tawa(preferably  flattened one), brush oil to it.
  • Now place the satay sticks with chicken on it and cook on high heat turning frequently for 3-4 minutes or till chicken pieces are just cooked
  • Or we can use preheated grill for 10-15 minutes, by turning the sticks in intervals.       
  • Now we can prepare peanut sauce.   
  • Heat remaining oil in a pan , add grated onion and chopped garlic ,stir and cook for 30 seconds by continuous stirring on high flame.
  • Now add chilly powder, tomato puree, honey, soy sauce, crushed peanuts and salt to it and mix well.
  • Then add a cup of water to it and allow it to boil.
  • Cook in low flame for 5 minutes by stirring occasionally.
Serve hot chicken satay with peanut sauce prepared.It is really delicious and simple.
