Chicken kozhukatta or chicken rice balls are delicious recipe for breakfast, dinner,evening snack or a best lunch box snack for our kids. It is prepared by filling chicken masala in rice dough and are steamed for getting cooked. Its really yummy and are eaten alone . It is a healthy dish as it requires a little oil only and uses rice powder for dough.
INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
- Rice powder:1 glass
- Onion: 1
- Chopped chicken(cooked and made into small pieces): 1/2 cup
- Grated coconut: 1/2 cup
- Green chilly: 2
- Garlic: 2 cloves
- Garam masala powder: 1/2 tsp
- Chilly powder: 1/2 tsp
- Oil: as required
- Salt: to taste
- Curry leaves: 1-2 strings
METHOD OF PREPARATION
- Boil 1 &1/4 cup of water with salt and 1/2 tsp of oil.
- Pour this over rice powder little by little and prepare a smooth dough.
- Heat a pan, add little oil and saute chopped onion, green-chilly, garlic paste and salt.
- When onion changes to light brownish, add chicken pieces, grated coconut, garam masala and chilly powder .
- Saute well and add 1/2 cup of water and cook till all water drain with lid closed. stir in intervals.
- Apply little oil in our palm, take a ball of dough and roll with with our hands.
- Now place little chicken masala in the center and cover it with all parts and make it into balls.
- Repeat same steps with remaining dough and masala.
- Now cook the balls in steamer for 15- 20 minutes.
Delicious Chicken Kozhukatta is ready. It is healthy and tasty dish, let us have a try on it.
