Dried Fish Thoran

Some people loves to have some dried fish. Here is a thoran recipe prepared with dried anchovy. It is simple and are delicious too.
INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
  1. Dried fish(anchovy): 100 g
  2. Shallots: 20-25
  3. Grated coconut: 1 & 1/2 cup
  4. Chilly powder: 3 tsp
  5. Turmeric Powder: 1/4 tsp
  6. Mustard seeds: 1 tsp
  7. Red chilly: 3
  8. Curry leaves: 2 strings
  9. Salt: to taste.
  10. Water: 2 cup
  11. Oil: 1 tbs
METHOD OF PREPARATION.

  • Soak dried fish in water for atleast 2 hours. After soaking period, remove its head, tail and its spine.
  • Cook these fish with 20 shallots (cut into 2 pieces) and 2 cups of water.
  • Grind grated coconut, remaining shallots, chilly and turmeric powder together in a mixer. Don't make it into fine paste.
  • When the fish cooks and remains nearly half cup of water, give a crush with laddle and add ground coconut mixture to it and mix well.
  • When its raw smell goes off, stir continuously to dries off water completely.
  • In another pan, heat some oil and splutter mustard seeds, red chilly and curry leaves and pour it over the thoran.
  • Mix well and turn off the flame.
Dried anchovy thoran or unakka natholi thoran is ready to serve.
