Some people loves to have some dried fish. Here is a thoran recipe prepared with dried anchovy. It is simple and are delicious too.
INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION- Dried fish(anchovy): 100 g
- Shallots: 20-25
- Grated coconut: 1 & 1/2 cup
- Chilly powder: 3 tsp
- Turmeric Powder: 1/4 tsp
- Mustard seeds: 1 tsp
- Red chilly: 3
- Curry leaves: 2 strings
- Salt: to taste.
- Water: 2 cup
- Oil: 1 tbs
- Soak dried fish in water for atleast 2 hours. After soaking period, remove its head, tail and its spine.
- Cook these fish with 20 shallots (cut into 2 pieces) and 2 cups of water.
- Grind grated coconut, remaining shallots, chilly and turmeric powder together in a mixer. Don't make it into fine paste.
- When the fish cooks and remains nearly half cup of water, give a crush with laddle and add ground coconut mixture to it and mix well.
- When its raw smell goes off, stir continuously to dries off water completely.
- In another pan, heat some oil and splutter mustard seeds, red chilly and curry leaves and pour it over the thoran.
- Mix well and turn off the flame.
Dried anchovy thoran or unakka natholi thoran is ready to serve.
