Most of us are seafood lovers. There are varieties of fishes and lots of seafood recipes. Here comes a recipe for fish masala from mangalurian origin.
INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
- King fish(or any other fish of same category): 500 g
- Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp
- Chilly powder: 3 tsp
- Pepper powder: 1/2 tsp
- Onion: 3
- Grated coconut: 1&1/2 cup
- Tamarind: 1 small lemon sized
- Pepper: 1 tsp
- Green chilly: 1
- Salt: to taste
- Oil: 4 tbs
METHOD OF PREPARATION
- Marinate fish pieces with turmeric powder, pepper powder and salt for 10 minutes.
- Heat 2 tbs of oil and shallow fry the fish pieces.
- In another pan, heat 2 tbs of oil, saute 1 chopped onion and green chilly and remove from oil. Grind these onion and green chilly with grated coconut, tamarind,pepper to a fine paste.
- In the same pan where we fried fish, Saute onion till it reaches light brownish.
- When it starts color change, add chilly powder.
- Saute till its raw smell goes off and add ground paste to it.
- Saute again till the raw smell of masala goes off.
- Now add fried fish pieces and salt.
- Mix well and cook in low flame for 5 minutes.
- Now add 3/4 cup of water and cook in low flame.
- When the gravy thickens and oil seems on the sides, turn off the flame.
