Masala Paniyaram

Paniyaram is a healthy recipe prepared using idli batter. It can be prepared as a sweet or spicy dish which can be considered as a breakfast dish or evening tea time snack. Paniyaram can be prepared as Sweet paniyaram and spicy masala paniyaram. Here comes the recipe for masala paniyaram. It is prepared by adding little spice over idli batter. Spice can be adjusted to your taste.


Masala Paniyaram


INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
  1. Idli batter: 2 cups
  2. Onion: 1
  3. Green chilly: 1
  4. Pepper powder: 1/2 tsp
  5. Chilly powder: 1/4 tsp
  6. Coconut:3 tbs
  7. Salt : to taste
  8. Asafoetida: a pinch
  9. Curry leaves: little
METHOD OF PREPARATION

  • In a bowl, add finely chopped onion, green chilly, chilly powder, grated coconut, pepper powder, asafoetida, chopped curry leaves and salt .
  • Mix all together. If you have added salt in idli batter, you can avoid its addition.
  • Pour idli batter over it and mix well.
  • Heat a paniyaram pan(pan with holes), add little oil on each hole and pour the batter on each hole.
  • Cook well till both sides become brownish color.
  • If you didn't have paniyaram pan, just cook as we cook idli and fry it in a pan with little oil. I have done so. Both tastes yummy.
  • You can avoid frying also.
Delicious Masala Paniyaram is ready. Serve hot with chutney as a breakfast or teatime snack dish.
