Idli is considered as a healthy food. Doctor recommends idlis for weight gaining for kids. Presence of white rice and urud dal brings its nutritious property. Here is a bonda recipe with the idli batter. We can convert the left over batter into healthy evening snack or as a breakfast dish itself and can be consumed with chutney.
INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION- Idli batter: 1 cup
- Onion: 1 ( small)
- Rice powder: 1 tbs
- All purpose flour / maida: 2 tbs
- Green chilly: 2
- asafoetida: a pinch
- Coriander leaves: 2 tbs
- Curry leaves: 1 string
- Salt : if required
- Oil: for frying
METHOD OF PREPARATION
- Pour idli batter in a bowl and mix rice powder, maida, asafoetida to it without any lump.
- While adding salt, take care if you have already added salt for idli batter.
- Then add finely chopped onions, green chilly, curry leaves and coriander leaves ( all are finely chopped).
- Mix well. The batter will be thicker than we are using for idli.
- In a pan, boil oil and pour the batter 1 spoon each time and fry till it cooked well and become brownish color in low flame.
