Phirni Recipe


Phirni is one of the creamy dessert or pudding prepared from grounded basmathi rice. As a combination of rice and milk, it is healthy and nutritious rich dessert. It is a festive dessert, can be prepared easily with few ingredients and steps. It is consumed chilled with almond pieces.


INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
  1. Basmathi rice: 1/4cup
  2. Milk: 1 L
  3. Sugar: 1 cup
  4. Cardamom: 6
  5. Almonds:20-25
  6. Rose water: 1 tsp
METHOD OF PREPARATION
  • Wash rice and drains its water with a cotton cloth or tissue.
  • Powder the rice like that of semolina using a dry mixer jar.
  • Boil milk in a thick-bottomed pan.
  • When it starts boiling, add ground rice into it by stirring at low flame to avoid lump formation.
  • Add sugar also.
  • Give a stir on interwals. Lid of the pan should be opened.
  • Soak almond in water for 2 hours and remove its skin, are chopped into pieces.
  • Cardamom are cushed.
  • When the milk with rice starts thickening, add crushed almond(keep little for garnishing) and crushed cardamom to it and stir well.
  • Keep cooking for another 5 minutes by continous stirring.
  • Dont allow it to thickens more as it will become thick more while cooling .
  • Add rose water and give a stir to mix well.
  • Turn off the flame and garnish it with almond pieces.
  • When it cools, refrigerate before eating, as its taste increases while cooling.
Delicious sweet dessert Phirni is ready. Serve chilled.
