Moghlai Dal

Here comes another awesome Dal recipe:
" Moghlai Dal". It is simply delicious with easy and quick steps with very common ingredients. Give a try upon this yummy recipe.

INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
  1. Tuvar Dal: 3/4 cup
  2. Chana dal:1/4 cup
  3. Bottle gourd: 2 cup
  4. Tomato: 1
  5. Onion: 1
  6. Green chilly: 2
  7. Ginger-garlic paste: 1 tsp
  8. Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
  9. Red chilly: 1
  10. Cumin seeds: 1 tsp
  11. Mustard seed: 1/2 tsp
  12. Ghee: 2 tsp
  13. Salt: to taste
  14. Asafoetida: a pinch
  15. Coriander leaves: 1 tbs
  16. Curry leaves: 1 string(optional)
METHOD OF PREPARATION
  • Wash and soak both Dal for 30-45 minutes.
  • Drain and add them to a pressure cooker.
  • Also add chopped tomatoes, bottle gourd, turmeric powder and salt along with 3 cups of water.
  • Place the lid and cook for three whistles.
  • Allow it to release pressure by itself.
  • Whisk the Dal using a laddle.
  • Now heat a pan with ghee.
  • Add mustard and cumin seeds to crackle.
  • Next add red chilly pieces and saute for 30-60 seconds.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and saute to release it's raw smell. Also add curry leaves if using.
  • Add a pinch of asafoetida and give a stir.
  • Now add onion and green chilly and saute till onion turns golden.
  • Now add Dal mix  and allow it to boil.
  • Add 1/4-1/2 cup of water if it's too thick.
  • Add salt if required.
  • When it start boiling, add chopped coriander leaves and remove from flame.
Delicious Moghlai Dal is ready, serve hot with rice and roti.
