Traditional Coconut Fish Curry

Here comes a simply delicious and healthy fish recipe with spicy coconut gravy. It goes well with any dish and are really yummy , healthy and easy to prepare. Any fish of your choice can be used with recipe. Give a try on it.


INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION

  1. Fish( any): 250 g
  2. Coconut: 1/2 of 1 large
  3. Dried red chilly: 8-10
  4. Coriander seed: 8-10
  5. Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
  6. Garlic: 2-3 cloves
  7. Tamarind: a small piece( or you can use raw mango)
  8. Tomato: 1/4 of 1
  9. Green chilly: 1
  10. Curry leaves: 1-2 strings
  11. Salt: to taste.
METHOD OF PREPARATION
  • Grate coconut and add them to a wet grinder.
  • Also add dried red chillies and coriander seeds and run the grinder by adding 3/4 cup of water.
  • Grind it till they become smooth. Add water little by little by checking as required.
  • It takes about 30-45 minutes ( time varies with different grinders).
  • You can also use mixer grinder if wet grinder is not available , but it tastes great while using wet grinder.
  • When the gravy turns smooth in grinder, add 2-3 cloves( by removing its skin) to the grinder and run it for 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour onto a wok or mud pan( wash the grinder jar with little water and pour it to the wok), add pieces of tomato, green chilly, curry leaves, turmeric powder and salt and allow it to boil.
  • Also squeeze tamarind with little water and pour it to the gravy.
  • When the gravy starts boiling , add cleaned fish to it and boil till fish done well.
Delicious Traditional Coconut Fish Curry is ready, serve hot with any dish.
