Jackfruit Fritters / Ponsa Mulik

Now the jackfruit season is going to an end. Before that try this healthy delicious jackfruit fritters recipe. Its a main snack recipes of Konkan cuisine and they named it as ponsa mulik. It is simple, eady and lovely that anyone can try and enjoy.


INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION

  1. Ripe jackfruit: 10-12 cloves( if it is small cloves, add more)
  2. White rice: 2 cup
  3. Jaggery: 1/2- 3/4 cup( adjust to your taste)
  4. Salt: a pinch
  5. Coconut grated: 1/2 cup
  6. Oil: for frying
METHOD OF PREPARATION
  • Soak white rice for atleast 3-4 hours. Drain it.
  • If jaggery is clean, you can just grate it. Otherwise melt it with little water , sieve and use for removing its dirt.
  • Add drained rice, jackfruit pieces, grated coconut, jaggery, a pinch of salt, everything in a blender and blend to a smooth batter. Add little water if needed.
  • Its consistancy should be thick like that of unniyappam batter. Donot make it too watery which will absorb more oil and gives irregular shapes.
  • Add jaggery according  to your sweetness.
  • Now heat a saucepan or unniyaappam pan with oil.
  • Add 1 tbs batter at a time and cook till they are done well and gets brownish color.
  • Donot cook in high flame, as it won' t allow the fritter to cook inside while outer part burns.
Delicious jackfruit fritters or ponsa mulik is ready, serve hot with a cup of tea.
