Dal Payasam

Dal payasam is a healthy sweet payasam prepared during any festive season. It is teally yummy and mouthwatering, give a try for this easy, quick, lovely recipe.

INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION

  1. Chana dal: 500 g
  2. Moong dal: 1 cup
  3. Jaggery: 250 g( adjust to your taste)
  4. Coconut pieces(thinly sliced): 1/4-1/2 cup
  5. Cardamom: 2
  6. Ghee: 2 tbs
  7. Thick coconut milk: of 2 coconut
  8. Salt: 1/4 tsp
METHOD OF PREPARATION
  • Dry roast moong daal.
  • Cook chana dal and moong dal with water and salt in a pressure cooker for 1 whistle.( Or 2 whistle).
  • Open the pressure cooker after it releases pressure by itself.
  • Now pour thick coconut milk and jaggery( by crushing it).
  • Allow it to boil till jaggery melts and combines with milk.
  • If you feel more thick, add little more coconut milk.
  • Add more jaggery , if you want more sweetness, or you can reduce it.
  • Heat ghee in a pan and roast coconut slices and cardamom in it.
  • Pour it over the payasam and turn off the flame.
Delicious healthy Dal payasam is ready. Serve hot.
