Ramadan Nombu Kanji / Split Moongdal Porridge

Nombu Kanji or split Moongdal porridge is a delicious healthy porridge recipe with a nice combination of ghee rice and split Moongdal in thick coconut milk.  It is nutritious and helps to relax our stomach. Healthy for kids and they will surely love it. Give a try upon it.

INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
  1. Ghee rice: 3/4 cup
  2. Split moong dal: 1/4 cup
  3. Coconut milk: of half coconut
  4. Salt: to taste
METHOD OF PREPARATION
  • Cook ghee rice and moong dal in cooker with little water and salt for 1-2 whistle.
  • After releasing pressure by itself, open the lid and pour coconut milk to it.
  • Cook till it boils by occasional stirring.
  • Add salt if you need more.
  • If you feel the porridge as thick, you can add little more coconut milk or second coconut milk.
  • You can also enrich it with the addition of little ghee.
Delicious and nutritious Ramadan Kanji or Moongdal porridge is ready. Serve hot as itself or with some pickle.
