Kadai Chicken

Kadai chicken or Chicken Karahi is a delicious chicken recipe that goes well with any breakfast or dinner dishes. First we marinate chicken pieces, are then fried and are cooked in a delicious gravy. It needs some steps but are really easy to prepare and are tasty too. Give a try on this wonderful recipe.




INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION

  1. Chicken: 1 kg
  2. Onion: 2
  3. Tomato: 2
  4. Green chilly:3
  5. Ginger-garlic paste: 4 tsp
  6. Red chilly powder: 3 tsp
  7. Pepper powder: 1&1/2 tsp
  8. Garam masala powder: 1/2 tsp
  9. Turmeric powder: 3/4 tsp
  10. Cloves: 2
  11. Cardamom: 2
  12. Kasuri methi: 1/2 tsp
  13. Lemon juice: 1 tsp
  14. Fresh cream: 1/2 cup
  15. Coriander leaves: 2 tbs
  16. Oil: 5-6 tbs
  17. Salt: to taste
METHOD OF PREPARATION

  • Marinate chicken pieces with 1 tsp chilly powder, 1 tsp pepper powder, 1/2 tsp garam masala powder, 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste, 1 tsp lemon juice and salt for 30-45 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, grind tomato with 2 green chilly, cardamom, cloves, 1/2 tsp chilly powder and 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste to smooth puree.
  • Heat 4 tbs of oil in a pan and fry the chicken pieces.
  • Take out the chicken pieces and keep aside.
  • To the same pan add remaining oil and saute chopped onion, 1 green chilly, and 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste in it, till onion turns brownish.
  • Now add remaining chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, pepper powder, kasuri methi to it and saute till a pleasant aroma arrives.
  • Add ground tomato puree along with 1 &1/2 cups of water and allow it to boil.
  • When it starts boiling , add the fried chicken pieces and salt and cook for 8-10 minutes
  • At last add fresh cream and chopped coriander leaves, stir well and turn off the flame.
Delicious Kadai chicken is ready. serve hot.
