Kadai chicken or Chicken Karahi is a delicious chicken recipe that goes well with any breakfast or dinner dishes. First we marinate chicken pieces, are then fried and are cooked in a delicious gravy. - Chicken: 1 kg
- Onion: 2
- Tomato: 2
- Green chilly:3
- Ginger-garlic paste: 4 tsp
- Red chilly powder: 3 tsp
- Pepper powder: 1&1/2 tsp
- Garam masala powder: 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder: 3/4 tsp
- Cloves: 2
- Cardamom: 2
- Kasuri methi: 1/2 tsp
- Lemon juice: 1 tsp
- Fresh cream: 1/2 cup
- Coriander leaves: 2 tbs
- Oil: 5-6 tbs
- Salt: to taste
- Marinate chicken pieces with 1 tsp chilly powder, 1 tsp pepper powder, 1/2 tsp garam masala powder, 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste, 1 tsp lemon juice and salt for 30-45 minutes.
- Meanwhile, grind tomato with 2 green chilly, cardamom, cloves, 1/2 tsp chilly powder and 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste to smooth puree.
- Heat 4 tbs of oil in a pan and fry the chicken pieces.
- Take out the chicken pieces and keep aside.
- To the same pan add remaining oil and saute chopped onion, 1 green chilly, and 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste in it, till onion turns brownish.
- Now add remaining chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, pepper powder, kasuri methi to it and saute till a pleasant aroma arrives.
- Add ground tomato puree along with 1 &1/2 cups of water and allow it to boil.
- When it starts boiling , add the fried chicken pieces and salt and cook for 8-10 minutes
- At last add fresh cream and chopped coriander leaves, stir well and turn off the flame.
