- Chicken: 1/2 kg
- Onion: 2 medium
- ginger: 1/2 inch
- Garlic: 6 cloves
- Pepper powder: 2 tsp
- Coriander powder: 2 tsp
- Garam masala powder: 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
- Cumin powder: 1 tsp
- Curd: 1 tbs
- Cinnamon: 1 piece
- Cloves: 2
- Bay leaf: 1
- Star anise: 1
- Mint leaves: 1 tbs
- Coriander leaves: 1 tbs
- Curry leaves: 1 string
- Oil: 2 tbs
- Salt: to taste
- Make a paste with ginger, garlic and mint leaves. Add little water if required while grinding.
- Marinate chicken pieces with the above paste, curd, pepper powder, coriander powder, garam masala ,turmeric powder and salt for 2-3 hours.
- Pressure cook the marinated chicken along with 1/2 cup water for 2 whistles in low flame.
- Heat a pan with oil, saute cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf and star anise in it.
- Now add chopped onion and curry leaves and saute till onion turns brownish.
- Add cooked chicken along with gravy to it and mix well.
- Add cumin powder and salt and cook it in low flame fort 6-8 minutes with frequent stirring.
- Cook till water gravy thickens and coats to chicken.
- Add coriander leaves and turn off the flame.
