Aleesa

Aleesa is a delicious healthy dish prepared with wheat and chicken or mutton, It is consumed as itself or with little sugar on it. It is a lovely malabari recipe prepared especially during ifthar, marriage or such special occasions. It is simple , lovely and healthy recipe that all will loves, give a try on it.



INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
  1. Wheat(skin removed): 1 cup
  2. Chicken / mutton: 1/4 kg
  3. Onion: 1
  4. Coconut: 1/2 of 1
  5. Cinnamon: 1 small piece
  6. Cardamom: 1
  7. Cloves: 1
  8. Ghee: 1 tbs
  9. Cashew & raisins: 1 tbs
  10. Salt: to taste
  11. Sugar: as required.
METHOD OF PREPARATION
  • Use skin removed wheat.
  • Cut chicken into small pieces without bones.
  • Put wheat, 3/4 of sliced onion, cardamom, cloves , cinnamon, chicken pieces, salt and required water in a pan or pressure cooker.
  • Cook them till they are well done.
  • After cooking , mash it well.
  • Take thick coconut milk from coconut.
  • Pour it to the cooked wheat mix, and heat it.
  • Aleesa should be thicker than payasam.
  • Roast remaining onion, cashew and raisins in ghee and pour to aleesa.
Delicious and healthy Aleesa is ready. Serve hot with little sugar.
