Crab is one of lovely seafood dish with flesh. Here comes a biriyani recipe with crab. It is simply delicious with a variant flavor of crab. Try this recipe to have a wonderful lunch.
INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
- Crab: 1/2 kg
- Biriyani Rice: 2 cup
- Onion: 3
- Tomato: 2
- Ginger-garlic paste: 1 &1/2 tbs
- Green chilly: 4
- Pepper powder: 1-2 tsp
- Fish masala: 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala: 1/2 tsp
- Coconut milk: 1/2 cup
- Ghee: 2-3 tbs
- Oil: as required
- Cinnamon: 1 piece
- Cloves: 2-3
- Bay leaf: 1
- Cardamom: 2
- Star anise:1 piece
- Salt: to taste
- Coriander leaves: 1/2 cup
METHOD OF PREPARATION
- Clean crab and cut into half.
- Heat oil in a pan and saute onion in it.
- When it sautes well, add ginger-garlic and green chilly paste.
- Saute it till a pleasant flavor comes out.
- Now add tomato pieces or juice and cook till oil comes out clear.
- Now add all the masala powders, mix well and cook for sometime. adjust the addition of pepper powder according to the spiciness of masala.
- Now add the crab pieces and salt, mix well and cook for 5-10 minutes in low flame with closed lid by occasional stirring.
- Now add thick coconut milk and coriander leaves and again cook till crab done well and water dries up by stirring in times.
- Now prepare rice.
- Wash and drain the rice.
- Heat a pan and melt ghee in it.
- Saute cinnamon, bay leaf, cardamom, cloves, star anise in it.
- Now add 1 small chopped onion and cook till it softens.
- Now add washed rice and saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Next add 3 & 1/2 cup of boiling water to it along with required salt and mix well.
- Stir occasionally.
- When water dries up and rice is about to done, turn off the flame.
- To dum the biriyani, either layer the rice over masala or give a mix to both( choose any step you love), Pour little ghee or butter over it, spread some coriander leaves and add color(optional) diluted with water, milk or rose water if you want.
- Cover the pan tightly and cook in low flame for 10-15 minutes.
- Turn off the flame and open after 5-10 minutes.
