Cauliflower Chickpea / Gobi Chana Masala

Cauliflower is a lovely vegetable. Its recipes are delicious and simple. Chick pea have a high nutritional value and also tastes great. Especially our kids loves to have both. It is also healthy for them too. A combination recipe of both cauliflower and chick peas brings highly delicious dish. Its preparation is simple with few  ingredients.

Cauliflower Chickpea / Gobi Chana Masal

INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
  1. Chickpeas: 1 cup
  2. Cauliflower: 1 small
  3. Onion: 2
  4. Tomato: 2
  5. Ginger-garlic paste: 1 tsp
  6. Green chilly: 2
  7. Chilly powder: 1 tsp
  8. Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
  9. Chana masala/ chat masala powder: 2-3 tbs
  10. Urud dal: 1/4 tsp
  11. Cumin seeds: 1/2 tsp
  12. Coriander leaves: little
  13. Salt: to taste
  14. Oil: 1-2 tbs
METHOD OF PREPARATION

  • Cut the cauliflower into florets and soak it in hot water for 10 minutes.
  • Cook chickpeas with water, little salt and turmeric powder in pressure cooker
  • Heat oil in a pan, sputter urud dal and cumin seeds.
  • Now add chopped onion and cook till changes color.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and green chilly and saute till its raw smell escapes.
  • Now add the cauliflower florets , stir well and cook for 5 minutes .
  • Close the lid while cooking. Stir occasionally.
  • Next add tomato pieces , stir well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Now add chilly powder, masala powder( if you are using chat masala powder, reduce the quantity as all will not like its odor if it is more) and mix well.
  • Cook for another 2-3 minutes and add cooked chickpeas along with its water and stir well .
  • Add salt.
  • Cook till it boils and forms a little thick gravy in low flame.
  • Add chopped  coriander leaves, mix well and turn off the flame.
Delicious Cauliflower- chick pea masala is ready. Serve hot with dosa, chapathi or anything.
