Umm ali or Om ali is a delicious pudding or dessert recipe from Egyptian origin. Its a lovely combination of croissant or puff pastry along with mixture of roasted dry fruit varieties sinking in sweetened milk and are topped with whipped cream. It taste more delicious while consuming hot and freshly prepared. Any consuming chilled is also tasty. You can use fresh croissant or baked puff pastry for the preparation.

- Puff pastry: 4 square sheets (or 4-5 fresh croissant or bake it for little time)
- Mixed Dry Fruits(cashew, almond, pistachio, walnut,raisins) Roasted: 1-1&1/2 cup
- Milk: 1/2 L+ 1/2 cup
- Condensed milk: 1/2 tin
- Desiccated coconut: 2 tbs
- Vanilla essence: 1 tsp
- Whipping cream powder: 1 sacchet
- Preheat oven to 175 Degree Celsius.
- Cut each puff pastry sheet into 4 pieces and bake for 10 minutes or till it puff up and become crunchy in preheated oven.
- Take oven proof glass tray and make a layer with baked puff pastry pieces.
- Cut and roast the dry fruits, mix altogether with 1 tbs of desiccated coconut.
- Make a second layer above puff pastry with these dry fruit by preserving 1/4 part aside.
- Boil milk with condensed milk and 1/2 tsp vanilla essence. Add more condensed milk or sugar if required.
- Pour this over the layers in the tray till its reaches same level of the layers. Add milk just 10-15 minutes before serving.
- Cover this with remaining puff pastry pieces.
- Spread little mixed fruits and desiccated coconut over it.
- Prepare whipped cream by beating whipping cream powder with half cup of cold milk and vanilla essence.
- Top the tray with whipped cream layer and spread remaining dry fruits and desiccated coconut over it.
- Bake it at 175 degree celsius for 10 minutes or till the top turns to little brownish.
- Keep eye on tray each minute as it may turn brown at any time within 10 minutes.
