Mangoes are seasonal fruits with a variety of tastes and flavors. Most of us loves to consume it. Vermicelli payasam is a sweet dish which is lovable and mouth watering. A combination of both will develop a special taste which cannot be described. Adults as well children loves it surely and will become favorite for everyone.
INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
- Mango(ripened): 2 medium
- Vermicelli: 3/4 cup
- Milk: 2 cup
- Condensed milk: 1/2 tin
- Salt: a pinch
- Cardamom: 1
- Ghee: 1 tbs
- Cashews: 1 tbs
- Raisins: 1 tbs
METHOD OF PREPARATION
- Peel off the mangoes and cut into small pieces.
- If our vermicelli is not roasted , roast it in ghee for 5 minutes.
- Roast cashew pieces and raisins in ghee.
- Cook mango pieces with 1/4 cup of water till it softens.
- Add 1 cup of milk and condensed milk to it and stir well.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes. No need of boiling it.
- Then add roasted vermicelli along with a pinch of salt( to balance sweetness).
- Mix well and cook until vermicelli softens and cooked well.
- Also add cardamom by crushing it.
- When vermicelli gets cooked, add remaining milk and boil.
- Add more sugar or condensed milk if you want more sweetness.
- When boils, add roasted cashews and raisins along with the ghee used for roasting to the payasam mix.
- Stir well and turn off the flame.
- Cooling may thickens the payasam, you can add more milk ti reduce the thickness if you want.
