Uzhunnu vada is a delicious breakfast or evening tea dish prepared completely with urud dal. It is a south indian dish. Both adult and children loves it. It goes well with chuttney or sambhar or both combined.
INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
- Urud dal: 2 cup
- Shallots: 1/2 cup ( can use onion instead)
- Green chilly: 1 tbs
- Ginger chopped: 2 tsp
- Asafoetida: 1/4 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil: for deep frying
METHOD OF PREPARATION
- Soak urud dal for 1 hour and drain it.
- Grind it using a mixer jar without water to get smooth dough. Using small jar of mixer grinder is best for grinding.
- Add chopped shallots, chopped green chilly, chopped ginger, asafoetida and salt to it and mix well.
- Take a ball of dough from it , make it a smooth ball then give a press and make a hole on middle using your finger.
- Wet hand before every ball preparation which will avoid sticking of dough on hands and also gives smooth vadas.
- Fry it in boiling oil till it becomes brownish color.
- Note to fry it in low flame otherwise its inner part remains uncooked while outer part darkens.
Hot delicious uzhunnu vada is ready. Enjoy it with chuttney or sambhar along with a cup of tea or coffee.
