Belgaum / Belagavi Kunda

Belgaum or Belagavi Kunda is a delicious sweet prepared with milk. It is easily prepared with very few ingredients. It is lovely festive sweet from Karnataka cuisine especially Mangalore. Give a try upon it.

INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
  1. Milk: 1 litre
  2. Sourless curd: 1/2 cup
  3. Sugar: 3/4 cup
  4. Cardamom powder: 1 tsp
METHOD OF PREPARATION
  • Boil milk till it reduces to 1/3 rd. Take care not to burn milk.
  • When it reduced to 1/3 rd, add 1/2 cup sugar and cook till it melts and combine.
  • Now pour curd to it, mix well and combine.
  • Cook with frequent stirring to avoid burning at bottom.
  • Take another pan and caramelize remaining sugar.
  • When the sugar gets Caramelized, pour it to the milk mix along with 1tsp cardamom powder.
  • Stir cook continuously till all liquid driesup or you can keep little moist as i have done.
  • You can consume it with a spoon or transfer it to a greased tray.
  • Allow it to cool a little and cut into your own shapes.
Delicious and healthy Belgaum/ Belagavi Kunda is ready. Serve hot or chilled.
