- Prawns: 15-20(medium)
- Tomato: 2
- Green chilly: 2
- Cumin seeds: 1/2 tsp
- Chilly powder: 3 tsp
- Coriander powder: 3 tsp
- Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp
- Tamarind: lemon sized
- Shallots: 3-4
- Curry leaves: 2 strings
- Oil: as required.
- Salt: to taste.
- Marinate prawns with chilly, coriander and turmeric powders along with little salt for 10-15 minutes.
- Soak tamarind in 1/4 cup water.
- Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry these prawns. Don't over fry it.
- In another pan, heat little oil and cook tomato pieces with green chilly till tomatoes mashes well.
- Pour this to the pan with prawns, stir well and cook till it boils and combines with prawns, oil seems clear on sides.
- Squeeze the tamarind in soaked water and pour it to the boiling gravy along with water.
- Stir it well and cook for 4-5 minutes.
- Add salt if required.
- Heat a pan with little oil and saute chopped shallots and curry leaves in it.
- Pour this over the prawn gravy and remove from flame.
