Turkish Borek

Turkish borek is a delicious stuffed snack loves to eat every time. It is a variant snack prepared with all purpose flour dough and are stuffed with chicken- vegetable masala. You can use any masala of your choice for stuffing. It is a variant recipe that usual snacks, lets have a try on it.

Turkish Borek

INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
For Dough
  1. All purpose flour: 2 cup
  2. Yogurt: 2 tbs
  3. Butter: 2 tbs
  4. Salt: 1 tsp
  5. Water: for kneading
For Filling

  1. Cooked Chicken: 1 cup
  2. Carrot: 1(finely chopped
  3. Cabbage: 1/2 cup(finely chopped)
  4. Soy sauce:1 tsp
  5. Chilly sauce: 1 tsp
  6. Black pepper powder: 1 tsp
  7. Vinegar: 1 tsp
  8. Oil: 2 tbs
  9. Egg:1
  10. Salt: to taste
  11. Thyme leaves: little
METHOD OF PREPARATION

  • Mix all purpose flour, butter, yogurt and salt all together in a bowl.
  • Knead it to a smooth dough by adding water little by little.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth for 15 minutes.
  • By the time we can prepare the filling.
  • Heat oil in a pan and sauce finely chopped carrot and cabbage in it.
  • Now add cooked and shredded chicken to it.
  • Season it with soy sauce, chilly sauce, pepper powder, vinegar and salt.
  • Mix well and remove it from flame
  • Now divide the dough into 9 equal parts.
  • Roll each ball into thin circles.
  • Now take three circles, place one overlapping the other( 1/4 th of first is covered by the second circle and 1/4 of second is covered by third. such a way we will get a long sheet.)
  • Divide the filling into 3 equal part and place one part of the above prepared long sheet.
  • Now roll the three sheets together like swiss rolls.
  • Repeat the steps for each 3 sheets.
  • Such a way we will get three long rolls.
  • Grease a frying pan we are using for cooking borek, roll the first filled roll to form a circle.
  • From its end start rolling second one.
  • Roll the third one from the end of second one and stick the last end.
  • Beat a egg and pour above the borek.
  • Sprinkle chopped thyme leaves on top. You can also use coriander leaves instead.
  • Cover the pan and cook in low flame.
  • After 10-12 minutes examine the bottom, if it turns to golden, flip turn to other side get cooked.
  • It takes 5-7 minutes.
  • You can also bake borek in microwave at 200 degree for 20-30 minutes or until it turns golden.
Delicious Turkish borek is ready, serve hot with chutney or other dippings
