Unniyappam is a lovely snacks prepared with sweet rice dough. They are soft, sweet and small semi-balls prepared in special wok with holes that is paniyaram pans. Due to its shape and taste kids too loves to eat it. It is healthy snack for tea or at any occasions. It is simple and easy to prepare with few ingredients.
- White Rice: 1 cup
- Coconut grated: 1/2 cup
- Cooked rice: 1/2 cup
- Jaggery: 2 pieces( adjust to your sweetness)
- Cardamom:1
- Small banana: 2 (optional)
- Salt: a pinch
- Soak white rice for 2-3 hour.
- Melt jaggery with little water.
- Add all the ingredients in a mixer jar( use filter while pouring melted jaggery to remove any wastes. If jaggery is clean ,, you can grate and add directly, no need of melting) and grind it with little water to get smooth thick batter.
- Adjust the addition of jaggery according to your sweetness.
- Heat the paniyaram pan and add oil that covers all the holes. Donot add more as while we pouring batter it will flow out of the pan.
- Now pour batter to each holes using a spoon and cook in low flame till it reaches light brownish .
- Flip to other side for 2-3 minutes and takeout from oil.
