Haleem is a delicious and healthy dish prepared with chicken or mutton in combination with some cereals. It is really awesome and healthy choice to consume during Ifthar or at any time. Give a try upon it.
INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION
- Chicken( cooked with salt and pepper): 3/4- 1 cup
- Broken wheat : 2 TBS
- Urud dal : 1 TBS
- Chana dal: 1 TBS
- Onion: 2
- Ginger-garlic garlic paste: 1 TSP
- Cloves: 1
- Cinnamon: 1 piece
- Cardamom: 1
- Pepper powder: to your taste
- Salt: to taste
- Lemon: 1
- Roasted cashew: to garnish
- Coriander leaves: little
- Green chilly:1
- Oil: as required
METHOD OF PREPARATION
- Slightly dry roast broken wheat, urad dal and chana dal separately and crush them separately in a mixer jar.
- Soak them in little water for 5-10 minutes and cook them together until well done.
- Mince cooked chicken and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and saute whole spices in it.
- Slice 1 onion and added to above pan and saute till they turns soft.
- Now add ginger-garlic paste and saute till it's raw smell escapes.
- Add cooked cereals and chicken mince and mix well. Add salt also.
- Add gravy if present after cooking chicken. (Cook chicken with little more water that can used in this step).
- Stir cook till all gravy drains.
- Enhance the spiciness by adding pepper powder to your taste.
- Heat little oil and fry remaining sliced onion to brownish.
- Pour Haleem into serving dish, sprinkle lemon juice on top and garnish with roasted cashew, chopped green chilly, coriander leaves and fried onion.
Delicious healthy Chicken Haleem is ready, serve hot.
