Tomato Rice

Tomato rice is one of the delicious and healthy rice recipe with lovely enriched tomato flavor. This recipe needs only the ingredients that are mostly available in our home, thus can be prepared easily and quickly at any time. It will go smoothly with anything, do try it for your lunch or dinner soon.


Tomato Rice


INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARATION

  1. Basmathi rice: 1&1/2 cups
  2. Onion: 2
  3. Tomato: 3 large
  4. Ginger-garlic paste: 1&1/2 tsp
  5. Green chilly: 4
  6. Red chillypowder: !&1/2 tbs
  7. Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
  8. Garam masala powder: 1/2 tsp
  9. Mustard: 3/4 tsp
  10. Cumin seeds: 1/2 tsp
  11. Urad dal: 1 tsp
  12. Cloves: 1
  13. Cardamom: 2
  14. Cinnamon: 1 inch
  15. Dry red chilly: 2
  16. Coriander leaves: 1/4 cup
  17. Oil: 3 tbs
  18. Salt: to taste
METHOD OF PREPARATION

  • Wash and soak basmathi rice for half an hour.
  • Drain  and cook it with 5 cups of water and salt.
  • When it reach correct consistency , drain the water and keep aside.
  • Now heat a thick-bottomed pan and pour oil  to it.
  • Sputter mustard, then cumin and then uruddal in hot oil.
  • Next and cloves, cinnamon and cardamom to it and saute for 10 seconds.
  • Add red chillies and saute for 5 seconds.
  • Now add chopped onion and saute till it is well sauted.
  • Add ginger-garlicpaste and saute for 1-2 minutes or till its raw smell moves.
  • Now we are going to add our main ingredient tomato.
  • Cut it into small pieces and add to the above pan.
  • Cook till it mashes well.
  • When tomatoes are well cooked, add red chilly powder, turmeric and garam masala powder.
  • Add salt and mix well to get everything combined.
  • Now add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
  • At last add cooked rice and slowly fold it .
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes and remove from flame.
  • Keep the pan closed for 5 minutes.
Yummy and healthy Tomato Rice is ready. Serve hot.
